Just stumbled on Jay Springett's 'Come Internet with Me' via Holly Herndon and Matt Dryhurst's Interdependence podcast, and it strikes me as an interesting way of responding to the challenge of internet literacy and the whole 'people don't visit websites' any more thing. @benbyrne I just got around to looking at this. It kind of reminds me of this activity I used to do with students in my English classes. I'd get student's to nominate two unrelated topics then I'd challenge the class to get from one to the other in wikipedia using the smallest number of links. The students that did bes alwayst left wikipedia and used the rest of the internet to do research that yielded lateral connections between their steps.

@benbyrne Asking student's to explain he logic that got them from one place to another was always fascinating. How they decided what to click on, why they thought it was the most logical step, how they thought it was getting them closer etc.

@doktorb Interesting. Web searching is a real, and both under recognised and under taught, skill.

@benbyrne Yeah. I was reminded of how much a of skill it is when I made the switch from Chrome with all its AI assistance to DuckDuckGo. I forgot what it was like to be on your own in a sea of information. So easy these days to lose sight of the fact that searching is about understanding and applying a logic framework and NOT about ordering from a menu.
